Fundraising Concert and proposed new Astroturf Play area
The school has been offered a fundraising concert in the church by Fr. Teehan and the Parish Council. We are extremely grateful to Fr Teehan and the parish for this very generous gesture. The concert will take place in the church on Friday April 13th and the Nenagh Octaves have kindly agreed to perform for us on the night. We would like to extend our thanks to the members of the Nenagh Octaves for helping to make this happen. Tickets will be sold for €15 apiece and the school children will also be taking part. More details on what promises to be a memorable night will follow shortly.
After much consultation the Board of Management has decided to use the funds generated from this once off event to help us build a new 36m X 22.5m 810 m2 Astroturf Play area on the existing Basketball court at the back of the school. This play area is very much needed as we find we are facing more and more time where the children cannot get to play or do PE on the current grass areas. The tarmac area itself has begun to disintegrate and funding will not be granted to upgrade it.
The concert alone will not cover the cost of this exciting development and it will necessitate some further fundraising. To this end it has been decided to have 3 further events this year. They are:
A Bag pack in Dunnes Stores Nenagh on Holy Thursday March 29th; Bags 2 School collection after Easter and the school Church gate collection on a date tbc.
People are welcome to make individual donations but are not under any pressure to do so and discretion is assured. It is planned to rent out this facility outside of school time in the future. While it will not be floodlight again this is being looked at for the future.
The most immediate event is the bag pack and I have attached a slip for people to indicate when they can help on the day and to give us their preference for a time slot. We will be going from 10 am to 8 pm. While help from outside the school is welcome all volunteers must be over 18. We are asking for people to commit to a 2-hour slot if possible but the more people who volunteer the more flexible we can be with times.
This is seen by the school as an investment in both our current pupils and the pupils of the future in Templederry and on the back of the unwavering support we receive from our parish. We hope you see it the same way and are happy to join with us along this journey. All going well the facility will be built during the summer and be ready to use for the commencement of the new school year in September. Please contact Joanne Delaney 086 3536888 should you have any further queries on the bag packing.
