We in Templederry NS take great pride in our approach to Healthy Eating in our school. Children are encouraged to bring healthy lunches and to choose the Healthy Eating Option before the “Sugary one”. We are an Active School. On top of our PE and extra curricular sporting obligations we recently did a walk from Mizen to Malin and regularly do “10 at 10! the exercise programmes from “Operation Transformation” which can be accessed here. On wet days we do some Go Noodle activities to keep our brains and bodies healthy and active.
As part of the Social, Personal and Health Education (S.P.H.E.) Programme we encourage the children to become more aware of the need for healthy food in their lunch boxes. In addition, the Physical Education programme supports the physical development and fitness of the children. The Science curriculum also looks at the development of the body and deepens the children’s understanding of how the body grows and develops.
